Fly on Skydog

Nobody sounds like Duane Allman.
His guitar tone, legendary. His fluid slide skills, monstrous. Allman forged a languid, loose style that was pure Sonic Poetry and still unsurpassed.
Always flying upwards.
His work on the Allman Brothers 1971 classic At Fillmore East is some of the most inspired, expressive and soaring guitar playing you will ever hear.
Period.

Duane “Skydog” Allman was 24 years old when he died in a motorcycle accident in 1971. A sad and ridiculous fact. The absurdity of this injustice is enough to make you cry Tears of Rage.
Duane would have been 64 this November 20th.
The world is a less beautiful place without Duane Allman. His music transcends the ages and will be listened to for a very long time indeed.
Happy Birthday Skydog.

Now go listen to Duane Allman. It will bring a smile to your face. It is good for the soul.
